Pupils get a lesson in site safety thanks to Tilia Homes
Pupils at Glebelands Primary School had an interactive lesson this week as we taught them about the dangers of playing near building sites.
Tilia Homes’ Safety Health and Environmental Manager, Steve Garrington, talked to the children this week around the importance of staying safe near construction sites ahead of the summer holidays. Alongside the interactive lesson, pupils were invited to design a poster about the dangers that can be found on construction sites and the winner will see their poster displayed at the site, alongside winning a new Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.
Lawrence Lee, Headteacher for Glebelands Primary School said: “The visit from Tilia Homes carried a timely and important message for the children as we approach the holidays and was a great way to end a fantastic term. The pupils really engaged with the talk and are looking forward to designing their own posters over the summer holidays. With the new development beginning to take shape, it’s important we remind our pupils about the dangers of playing near live construction sites and we’re delighted that Tilia Homes were able to provide this for us.”
Steve Garrington, SHE Manager for Tilia Homes commented: “The health and safety of the local communities in which we build is of paramount importance to Tilia Homes and it was great to be able to talk to the pupils and deliver a really important message around safety on building sites. The children were bright and enthusiastic and I’m sure we’ll be receiving some creative responses to our site safety poster challenge!”
Tilia Homes is creating a brand new community of 307 private and 92 affordable homes set amongst the thriving new Ashton Green neighbourhood. Construction work is now underway with the first homes set to be released for sale in November.
