Tilia Homes encourages future homebuilders in Market Drayton with STEM-inspired book pledge

The Grove School in Market Drayton has received a cash donation from Tilia Homes to support its STEM curriculum book provision.

The leading homebuilder launched a special World Book Day initiative in March, which will see it pledge £3,000 and hundreds of books to schools and libraries in the communities it builds in up and down the country to encourage future generations into construction and housebuilding.

As part of the initiative, The Grove School received funding, which will allow for books rich in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) topics to be purchased for pupils to learn from and enjoy.

We love to support the schools and facilities in the communities in which we build, as well as careers in our fantastic, versatile and rewarding industry and so to be able to combine the two is brilliant.

“We hope the children at The Grove School enjoy the new books and we hope we’ve inspired some future housebuilders in the making!”

The Grove School is just a short distance away from Montgomery Place, on Blandford Way. When complete, Montgomery Place will feature a range of 209 three- and four-bedroom properties suitable for buyers at every stage of the property ladder.

As well as the aim of providing thousands of books to libraries and schools across the country, the homebuilder also delivers health and safety talks and careers presentations in schools close to its developments to show young children how quality homes are built safely and answer insightful questions from children interested in pursuing careers in STEM-related subjects.

As part of Tilia Homes’ ongoing commitment to the local community it has pledged nearly £1.3m to Market Drayton Council to support local wildlife, traffic, and infrastructure in the local area. The funding will see new pedestrian, cyclist and road routes in the local area to improve traffic management around Montgomery Place, as well as protecting local wildlife with buffer zones along the railway and the Stych Brook watercourse.

“As an industry, we’re facing an immeasurable skills gap within the construction sector and we’re keen to make sure that younger generations understand the fantastic career path available to them within housebuilding, which is why we spend time presenting career talks in school and at our developments across the region and offer books that discuss STEM subjects wherever we can,” Lizzie adds.
