Award-winning Cottenham United Colts scores sponsorship with Tilia Homes Eastern

Cottenham United Colts FC is celebrating after scoring an £800 sponsorship with homebuilder, Tilia Homes Eastern.

The 2020 winner of the Cambridge FA Grassroots Football Club of the Year award is just a short distance away from its Kings Park development, on Rampton Road, and has purchased new training kits for the U15s girls’ team and an away kit for the U14s boys’ team with the funds.

David Thomas, sales and marketing director for Tilia Homes Eastern, comments: “Here at Tilia Homes, we’re committed to building simply more than houses but a thriving community for all residents, not just our homeowners.

“Cottenham United Colts FC is a shining example of the positive impact sport can have from a young age, encouraging fitness and wellbeing, as well as being a part of a successful team, and we couldn’t be prouder to help the club provide the best kits possible for its teams. With our Kings Park development set to open its doors early next year, and a number of family homes available to buy, we expect that lots of new residents will be excited to join the award-winning club.”

Established in 1979, Cottenham United Colts is a FA Charter Standard club which provides footballing opportunities for Boys and Girls from the age of 5 to 17 for Cottenham and the surrounding area. It currently has 22 boys teams and six girls teams, as well as hosting a Wildcats Centre which is well attended and has shown a great first step for girls football in the village.

Ben Holmes, Chairman of Cottenham United Colts, adds: “It’s been great to partner with Tilia Homes Eastern and for the homebuilder to take such an interest in the work the club does both on and off the pitch.

“The 2022 – 2023 season is one of our most exciting yet as we’re incredibly proud to partner with the #hergametoo organisation, a female football fan-ran organisation, committed to growing and fostering an ethos of respect and equality for women in the sport. With six girls’ teams here at Cottenham United Colts, we understand first hand how important it is for everyone to have access to the beautiful game from an early age and appreciate Tilia Homes’ support.”

Kings Park is perfectly placed close to the A14 and A10, with journeys into the centre of Cambridge taking just a 25-minute drive. The site encompasses 36 acres of land, with local school Cottenham Primary School to the north and open countryside views to the west.
